This 2019 project delivers a spaceship 3D model designed to be 3D-printable for the client's showcase and small batch output.

Brief

  • Create a printable hard-surface sci‑fi spaceship model.
  • Focus on appearance, structural rigidity, and feasibility for FDM printing.

Process

  1. Concept & references: align on sci‑fi style and silhouettes.
  2. Blender modeling: subdivision + hard edges while keeping printable topology.
  3. Split parts & wall thickness: min wall thickness ≥1.2 mm; local ribs where needed.
  4. Exports: STL/OBJ for printing; lightweight GLB for previews.

Recommended print settings

  • Material: PLA / PETG
  • Layer height: 0.16–0.2 mm; nozzle 0.4 mm
  • Minimum detail: ≥0.5 mm; minimum hole: ≥1.0 mm
  • Supports recommended for belly and fins

Deliverables

  • Printable STL/OBJ (with assembled/parted variants)
  • Preview GLB
  • Basic print notes and cautions

Result

The client printed the model successfully with FDM; finish (sanding/painting) achieved the intended look.
